STEVEN D. HEATH

    Steven Douglas Heath, 40, Abilene, Kansas passed away Sunday 25, 2010 at his home. He was born Dec. 30, 1969 in Salina, Kansas the son of Rick Heath and Cynthia (James). He grew to manhood in the community of his birth and graduated from El Saline High, Brookville. He had resided in Abilene for the past 5 years moving there from Salina. He was a labor at Russell Stover Candy Company and had attended the Ray Avenue Baptist Church in Salina.

    He is survived by two daughters, Brooke and Taylor Heath both of Salina, and his mother Cynthia Baird and husband Jeffrey of Solomon, his grandmother LaVerna Weber and grandfather Darrell Baird.  He was preceded in death by his father. one brother Anthony and his grandparents.

    Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, July 30, 2010 at the Greenville Cemetery, Niles, Kansas with Pastor John Day officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7-8 PM at the Carlson-Becker Funeral Home, Solomon. Friends may call at the funeral home from Wednesday 8:30 AM until time of services.

JOAN K. SONNTAG

 

    Joan Katherine Sonntag, 72 of Russell, Kansas passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Wheatland Nursing Center, Russell. She was born Dec. 13, 1937 in Solomon, Kansas the daughter of Solomon and Minnie (Seward) Hart. She attended the local schools. On June 4, 1962 she was united in marriage with J. Harold "Sonny" Sonntag in Hoxie, Kansas. He preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 2008. They resided in Solomon for many years. She had moved to Russell to be closer to family due to illness. She was a home maker, a member of the Methodist Church, had worked as a waitress, telephone operator, nurses aid, school cook warehouse worker and as a custodian at the post office.

    She is survived by one brother, Emery Hart (Judy) of Grinnell, Kansas, and one sister, Flossie Herman (Edward) of Russell, Kansas. Also surviving are a brother-in-law Douglas "Butch" Sonntag (Grace) of Nixon, MO, a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Sommerfield of Phoenix, AZ. and numerous nieces, nephews, great nephews, aunts, uncles and other family and friends.

    Graveside services will be held July 22, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Prairie Mound Cemetery with Emery Hart officiating. Cremation was chosen and their will be no visitation.

    The family of Joan Sonntag suggests memorial contributions in her name to the Wheatland Nursing Center.
